Helping vulnerable communities around the world to join forces, grow networks and improve health care

Part of InterHealth’s long-term strategy is to support numerous development projects which have arisen from the personal passions and expertise of our staff.

InterHealth will be facilitating selected networks and initiatives that help to provide health care to vulnerable communities. Two of these projects have been fostered by InterHealth for the past few years and will continue to be a strategic focus of our support:

Community Health Global Network

Founded by Dr Ted Lankester and Nick Henwood in February 2005, CHGN is a global network of individuals, community health workers, faith-based organisations, church or community leaders, academics, and health care progfessionals who are passionate about empowering vulnerable communituies to improve their health and wellbeing.

Their main purpose is to link together like minded individuals and groups in resource poor countries who may not know each other, so that together they can be even more effective in strengthening existing health programmes as the grass roots level, by freely establishing their own networking space both virtually (online) and on the field (via ‘cluster’ formation).

CHGN's latest project is the launch of a Bangladesh Cluster of linked programmes in association with LAMB Integrated Rural Health and Development programme. We are inviting 60 members from health programmes in Bangladesh for a 3 day launch and associated training programme with the DFID funded and commended Lamb Hospital and Project.

Help to grow the network

The CHGN team are really excited about the launch of their new website which will be available in November. It features an improved health forum to connect health workers around the globe. Join the CHGN mailing list and keep in touch about the launch and help to grow the network.

Please see www.chgn.org to find out more about this initiative.
