A group of people linked with HIV affected immigrant communities in the UK will meet in November to learn from each other whilst doing appreciative home visits and neighbourhood discussion. A similar approach is emerging in Oxford. Sharing of experience between the cities is happening. Members of Affirm will be attending this discussion.
UNAIDS Prevention Refresher Workshops
Early November 09
Affirm will be implementing a series of workshops in which all Geneva based UNAIDS staff will engage. The objectives are to reawaken personal ownership for prevention and to nurture application, whatever the HIV related job may be.
Global Reconciliation
Amman, Jordan. 14-17 December
A summit on Pathways to Reconciliation will be held in Amman, Jordan, 14 to 17th December. Affirm will be coordinating 'Spirituality and Celebration'. Six themes will be explored including Health and Foreign Aid. Follow up to health and faith linked demonstrations in 2010 to facilitate a growing reconciliation movement will be a priority for 2011.
11th International Conference on Travel medicine
Budapest, 25th to 29th May
Ted Lankester presented at a symposium on the health care of long-term travellers on the topic: Culture Shock and the Mental Health of long-term travellers. Vanessa Field and Nicki Boddington also presented a poster on the research carried out at InterHealth connected with the GeoSentinel monitoring project.

InterHealth’s partner organisation Community Health Global Networks (CHGN)
co-chaired a two day consultation at WHO’s Headquarters. The Consultation was entitled: “Renewing and enhancing Collaboration with NGOs Towards a Shared Agenda”. There were 52 participants around the table including WHO’s Deputy Director General. Also on the agenda was ‘The revitalization of Primary Health Care’ the preferred health model which WHO would like to see adopted worldwide.
