Fit Notes and the return to work
Understanding the new system of certification
9th March 2011, 12 - 2pm

Fit notes replaced the old 'Sick certificates' on April 2010. It has long been recognised that long periods out of work are associated with poor physical and mental health, as well as recognising that in most cases, an individual does not need to be 100% fit to return to work.

The new system of certification aims to facilitate an earlier return to work.

  • Gain an understanding of the new certification rules

  • Understand the obstacles delaying return to work

  • Points to include when agreeing a return to work plan with employees
