HIV and Hepatitis B Protection Kit with IV Fluid
Who for? Those doing extensive travel by road or light aircraft where HIV and Hepatitis B are common and where local blood supplies are not reliable. The kit comes with 2 bottles of intravenous fluids, Hartmanns solution. On balance we would recommend that one kit is appropriate for up to 5 adults travelling together. Larger groups should consider taking a further kit. You can purchase equipment suitable for children and babies separately from our first aid section.
What for? To give intravenous fluids following blood loss in an accident to "buy time" until a safe supply of blood can be located. The kit must therefore be kept with you during travel by road or light aircraft. It needs to be used by a health worker or someone able to set up an intravenous drip. It can also be used in cases of severe dehydration where the person affected cannot take fluids by mouth.
This kit contains a prescription-only medication so you must seek advice from an InterHealth Clinician before ordering.
