Annie spent ten years in Latin America and on returning to UK she studied to be a Counsellor and subsequently trained as a Psychotherapist...

She leads the InterHealth Psychological Health Services team. She is trained as a specialist in trauma psychology and psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic and is currently working for a Diploma in Supervision and Work Consultancy with the Grove.
Annie specialises in the international relief and development sector with a particular focus on work-life balance and stress management and the issues arising for people who are frequent travellers.

Annie also has a special interest in Christian ministry and mission and is currently developing relevant services and resources. She is working with colleagues to share InterHealth’s experience as widely as possible by developing training in areas of concern to international personnel and to support regionally recruited staff.  She works with a small number of people in personal therapy.

Evelyn is a Consultant Psychiatrist and carries out psychological assessment of candidates applying to various aid, development and mission agencies...

She is also available for consultation about mental health problems with individuals or organisations. She combines her work at InterHealth with a post as an NHS consultant in London.

Evelyn has been at InterHealth since 1991 and has visited countries in Asia, Africa and Europe in connection with her work here. Like the other members of the Psychological Health Services team she also does confidential reviews and crisis debriefing. Evelyn also has some theological training and is interested in the interaction of spiritual and psychological factors.

Evelyn is a foundation member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine, part of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow).
 

Dr Debbie Hawker Dr Debbie Hawker

Debbie Hawker is part of InterHealth’s Psychological Health Services team. Debbie is a consultant clinical psychologist and works from her base in the East Midlands.

Until 2006 Debbie worked at Oxford University Department of Psychiatry, where she specialised in therapy and research into eating disorders. She combined this with increasing involvement with the aid & development sector and Christian mission partners.

She has been particularly active in research and training as well as offering her services in debriefing, providing therapy, supervision and on-field support. She is a board member of the Global Member Care Network and a trustee for Xenos (a charity for ‘Third Culture Kids’). Debbie has traveled to over 25 countries to provide training and consultations for local and expatriate staff.

She is an author of five books, including the People in Aid Publications ‘Supporting staff responding to disasters: Recruitment, briefing and on-going care' and 'Debriefing aid workers and missionaries: A comprehensive manual'. She and her husband David have also written three on-line modules relating to national staff and stress. Debbie and David are mission partners, supported by St Aldate’s church in Oxford.
 

John Steley John Steley

John was educated in Malaysia, Australia and the USA and was a Salvation Army Youth Worker in Australia before training as a Psychologist.

In Britain he has worked for the NHS and the Prison Service. John has also taught Psychology and conducted research at the University of London.

At InterHealth John provides Psychological Assessments, counselling and other psychological services. At present he is researching the use of the internet by overseas mission and aid workers.

John’s interests include the relationship between Psychology and Christianity, his local church, adopted children, children with other special needs and children brought up cross-culturally.
 

Jackie Buie Jackie Buie

Jackie spent time in the 1980’s working as a Therapy Radiographer in a large hospital in South India before working for three years in Kenya with her family for a Christian Mission Organisation...

Having returned to the UK she undertook training as an Integrative Counsellor and became an accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Following this she did a degree in Psychology at Birkbeck College, London and is currently training for a Masters in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Jackie has a special focus on preparing people to be psychologically ready for working overseas with mission work, and debriefing both individuals and groups following overseas placements in the International aid and Mission sectors.

She works with a number of people in personal therapy and began work as a Counsellor in 2006 at Interhealth.
 

Mark Snelling Mark Snelling
Advice, Consultancy and Training Coordinator
Mark was born in Kenya and grew up in Germany and the UK. After university, he spent most of the 1990s working as a journalist in the Far East before joining the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 2000.

Mark’s first mission in eastern Sri Lanka was followed by a number of short- and long-term assignments as a Communications Delegate in Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, focusing mainly on areas of armed conflict. He has been based in the UK since 2005.

In 2007, he began training as a psychodynamic counsellor, first at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF) in London before moving to Brighton University, where he is about to qualify. He now also works as an Honorary Psychotherapist at Guy’s Hospital in London.

As a trainer, Mark has extensive international experience with a wide variety of client groups in high-pressure environments. He specialises in stress management and trauma support, with a particular interest in the impact of childhood trauma on adult resilience and unconscious motives in humanitarian aid work.

Agata Perepeczko Agata Perepeczko
Organisational Psychologist
Agata trained as a clinical psychologist in Poland and is currently working in London towards her chartership status as an Occupational Psychologist.

Before joining InterHealth, Agata was working with families, single mothers, people with learning difficulties and patients with mental health problems. She was also working for corporation organisation on projects, which were put in place in order to improve organisational productivity.

Her interests are around family services and organisational issues. She is very interested in methods of increasing self esteem and confidence in woman.

In her spare time she likes skiing, playing squash, drawing and travelling.
