You must be logged in to add medicines to your basket. You must have received advice from an InterHealth Clinician before ordering medicines.
What restrictions apply to supplying medicines?
InterHealth is a non-NHS clinic and as we are not a retail pharmacy we can only dispense medication directly recommended to you by an InterHealth Clinician. Stringent medical requirements prevent us from being able to dispense medication on the advice of other practitioners (e.g. your GP or Travel Health Nurse). We do not dispense medication on production of a private prescription from a non-InterHealth Clinician.
As we are not a retail pharmacy all ‘Prescription-Only’ medicines and ‘Pharmacy’ (over-the-counter) medicines are prescribed for you. You can tell which these are as you have to login or register before you can add these to your basket.
Before we supply the medicines to you we will check that you have had the appropriate advice from us. Please do not be offended if we contact you for more information, it is for your safety.
A few medicines we supply are called GSL medicines (General Sales List). These are medicines which can be bought in normal shops. You do not need to have received advice from InterHealth before you order these. You do not need to login before adding these to your basket.
Process for Ordering Medicines
How can I get health advice before I order my medicine?
The advice that you are basing your order on must be up-to-date and relevant. I.e. you should get new advice at least every six months. If your last advice was for e.g. India and you are now travelling to Sudan, you will need new advice.
Who needs to complete a health questionnaire?
Any orders which contain medicines (which require you to login before you can add them to your basket) must be accompanied by a health questionnaire. This health questionnaire will automatically be generated when you put a medicine in your basket. We cannot dispense a medicine without a health questionnaire.
A separate health questionnaire must be completed and signed by each person who will have access to the medicines. This applies to family, team or group orders.
How can I order for a group, family or team?
If you are ordering medicines on behalf of a group, team or family every member must complete their own health questionnaire. This is so we can check that it is safe for each person to take the medicines requested. Nobody knows their own health better than them! By completing the health questionnaire themselves they know that medicines are being ordered on their behalf.
Parents or guardians should complete the health questionnaire on behalf of any children aged less than 16 years.
You will only be able to order medicines for up to 6 people on the TravelShop. If you need to order for more people please contact the Travel Supplies team on 020 7902 9000 for more information. If you are an individual subscriber you cannot order medicines on behalf of a group. Only those with an organisation subscription can order for a group.
Group orders take longer to process and we require 10 working days for processing and delivery. Please contact the Travel Supplies team if your group order requires delivery in less than 10 working days BEFORE placing your order, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Delivery of Medicines
We can only post medicines by a recorded delivery service, so that there is an auditable trail from when the medicines left us until they reach you. This costs a bit more but is more secure and the medicines are traceable.
We post medicines across the world but some countries will not allow the import of medicines from abroad so please check your country’s regulations before placing an order.
Counterfeit Drugs
It can be tricky to know if medicines are ‘the real thing’ when purchased in some overseas countries. Drugs can be counterfeit and of very questionable quality. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that 10% of all medicines available across the world are now counterfeit.
Obtaining medicines from InterHealth will give you peace of mind that your medicines are genuine, not fake. Our medicines are always bought from reliable sources based in the UK.
InterHealth is not a Pharmacy and is therefore not registered as such but we are regulated by the Care Quality Commission who ensures that our practices meet the current stringent requirements.
Please call our TravelShop team on 020 7902 9000 who will be happy to help if you have any questions about obtaining medicines from InterHealth.
