The services detailed here are available to all our clients, both UK-based staff and overseas personnel. We aim to provide an appointment to suit your convenience wherever possible.
The PHS team at InterHealth is currently made up of a psychotherapist, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, two counsellors and a link with a clinical psychologist.
Although our training and approaches differ there is also considerable overlap and thus many of the appointments available can be provided by any member of the team.

Confidential Review
- This is a confidential opportunity to review a client's recent overseas assignment and their return to the UK.
- The reviewer is available to help discuss personal matters as well as the impact of the overseas assignment.
- If any kind of follow-up to the review is indicated there will be an opportunity to discuss the options available.

Trauma Management Services
- Suitable for those who work in situations such as disaster relief, refugee camps or conflict zones where traumatic experience is the prevailing norm; as well as those who work with on-going trauma narratives such as prison monitors, journalists or human rights specialists.
- Also appropriate for those who have been through a critical incident such as a mugging, abduction or serious road accident, and for those who have witnessed a traumatic event such as violence against persons, a major fire or a bombing.
- These services are confidential and aimed at empowering people to come to terms with their experience and helping them to to identify the most helpful psycho-social support available to them.

General Consultation
- This is an opportunity to seek professional help or advice about anything which is causing concern or trouble.
- It remains confidential except by specific arrangement. If an agency has requested a report, it will be made clear at the outset. The client will be asked for written consent and they will have a copy of the report.
- The client is welcome to return for a follow up appointment at a later date, to review how they feel things are going.

Personal Counselling
- This is an opportunity to address issues of personal development or specific difficulties in a series of ongoing appointments.
- There is time for reflection between appointments.
- Those who offer counselling at InterHealth are specifically trained in this work. As well as their experience as counsellors, they are familiar with the particular issues which arise for people working in the overseas aid, development and mission sector.

Psychological Profile
- This is an in-depth, unhurried interview with candidates to put together a psychological assessment to inform the selection process of the agency the client has applied to join.
- The client will be asked for written consent for the report produced to be issued to the named person in their organisation. They will have a copy of the report.
- We aim to make it useful to the client in their preparations for whatever their next step may be, as well as helping the agency in their understanding of the applicant.

Seeing a Psychiatrist at InterHealth
- In some circumstances a referral to a psychiatrist is appropriate.
A psychiatrist undergoes full general medical training and has then specialised in psychiatry. They can prescribe and monitor drug treatments and various aspects of psychiatric disturbance and mental illness.

Work-life balance consultation
- The aim is to enhance personal well-being and help maximise performance at work under pressure.
- It is an opportunity to explore work-life balance and identify priorities to help set achievable goals and make realistic proposals to the client's organisation.
- It is an extended consultation of 90 minutes after which a confidential report summarising the themes discussed is supplied. A follow-up appointment is often recommended.

Stress Management Consultation
- The aim is to help identify ways to reduce stress levels, maximise performance at work and enhance personal well-being.
- It is an opportunity to highlight strengths and to pinpoint the areas of stress where the client has options of making improvements.
- It is an extended consultation of 90 minutes, after which a confidential report summarising the themes discussed is supplied. A follow up appointment is often recommended.
